Software Update "Without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Those who initiate change will have a better opportunity to manage the change that is inevitable." - William Pollard "Yea Cloud!" - Windows 7 Commercial In our last newsletter we mentioned that we would be upgrading our software. Well....we did it and I think you are going to like it. We still have many ways that we are going to improve it even more, but for now we are pretty happy with what we have. I think it will always be a work in progress, as I'm pretty sure technology is not going to slow down anytime soon. Check it out for yourself by going to www.sampleserve.com. The login ID and password are right there on the front page. What will it do for you? It will allow you to see your results in multiple formats (maps, tables, graphs, etc..) and to evaluate your results compared to various state clean-up criteria. There are literally hundreds of ways and variations on how you can view your data. It will make your job easier, and save you time and money when it comes to preparing your reports. It will also allow you to change site sampling details on the fly. Want to change your QA/QC parameters? Want to add some wells to the sampling program, or drop some wells from it? Login and change them. It's simple. For you Project Managers that don't get out in the field much anymore, want to see what your well looks like or exactly where it's located? Login and run a "Well Construction and Location Report". Then BAM! . . . . . . pictures of all your wells and other construction details right on your screen....it's that simple. Information at the tips of your fingers....saving you money! Stay tuned, it will get even better! |
SampleServe.com / YSI - Low Flow Auto-Sampler Probably the most exciting thing we are working on here, besides our new software, is our Low Flow Auto-Sampler. What's a Low Flow Auto-Sampler, you ask? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like.
A Low Flow Auto-Sampler is a collection of equipment that works together to sample a monitoring well automatically using low flow techniques. The idea and concept were developed by SampleServe.com and, with the assistance of the technical staff at YSI, it looks like we will have the hardware in the very near future. Not only does YSI make great equipment and meters right now, they are about to put significant distance between themselves and their competition. Basically, the "unit" we are working on will monitor water level elevation, flow rate and water quality parameters and simultaneously control pump speed to maintain consistent flow rates within the draw down limits of the low flow method. Multiple units can be deployed and all parameters on each unit can be monitored concurrently to a remote central laptop via a wireless connection. Once any one of the multiple units has determined that "stability" has been attained it will send a signal to the central laptop informing the operator that it's ready to have sample bottles filled.
The operator then goes to the unit, fills the appropriate bottles, cleans the unit and deploys it to the next well. This technology will allow a single sampler to sample up to 3 wells simultaneously. The data acquisition will be cleaner, more tightly controlled and available for upload to our website within minutes of being collected. Once developed and implemented these units will actually allow us to reduce our price below our current low levels and at the same time increase the level of service. How often do hear about that happening?
